Color/Soft Sorter Operator
Title: Color/ Soft Sorter Operator for the Fruit Plant

Duties
The Color/Soft Sorter Operator will be responsible to maintain the optimal flow of product through the color/ soft sorter to maximize line efficiency with product quality. This includes not only monitoring the equipment, but also performing preventative maintenance on the equipment to ensure the maximum overall performance. As the operator will be responsible for an electronic sensor-based machine, a good working knowledge of computer applications is considered an asset. Machine specific operator training will be provided at the start of the season.
Other Duties
- Must follow all company GMP’s and SOP’s.
- Properly start up the color/soft sorter on time for production based on variety and quality and properly shut down the color/soft sorter for sanitation.
- Have and develop an understanding of the Quality Specifications for soft berries.
- Adjust the machine as needed to remove defective product so that quality specifications are met.
- Perform machine calibration as necessary.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance checks on the machine as per the guidelines in the machine manual. Initiate corrective action if required.
- Remove full totes of Grade A and Grade B product from the line and correctly label.
- Have accurate inventory control.
- Communicate effectively with other plant team members.
- Be an effective member of the team.
- Report and deliver properly completed paperwork.
- Observe and follow the sanitation standards set in the Fruit Plant’s policies.
- Clean the sorter after each shift as per the guidelines in the machine manual.
- Clean the work area periodically throughout shift
- Work in a safe manner using safe work practices including Lock Out Tag Out
- Prepare the Sorter for off-season hibernation.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Responsibilities
- Must be punctual and able to work unsupervised
- Provide skills training to other on-site employees as required.
- Be willing to take any requested Safety course sponsored by the company.
- Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment such as steel toed shoes.
- Maintenance of a safe working environment
- Comply with all food safety policies
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. using correct lifting techniques
- Must be able to crawl under machines and in confined spaces.
- Must be able to push pallets of fruit with a pallet jack
- Must be able to bend, twist and turn.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work in a cool environment.
Hours: 6:30 am – 6:30 pm or as necessary
Overtime work Is required.
There will be weekend work as required by the blueberry harvest.
The work is seasonal from July to October.

- There is forklift traffic in a fast paced environment
- There is close quarters to walk in and work in.
- Tools are provided.
- Must have own transportation.
