Quality Control Technician
Reports to: Plant Manager and Quality & Food Safety Manager
PURPOSE:
To ensure our products, facilities and our people meet our quality standards by monitoring our quality assurance and food safety program.
KEY REPSONSIBILITIES:
- Active and key member of the Blueberry Quality and Food Safety Team
- Participate in regular Blueberry Quality meetings
- Bring any quality concerns forward to the Team
Monitor the Quality and Food Safety Program within the Blueberry Plant
- Perform regular quality and grade checks on products
- Perform weight checks on products (blueberries and tomatoes)
- Perform daily temperature checks
- Perform daily quality audits
- Perform daily pre-operational inspections and monitor sanitation program
- Monitor and enforce our Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s)
- Monitor cleaning schedules to ensure that tasks are being done and recorded
- Monitor the quality of all products (i.e. CA Product, Export, Smalls, Jumbos, etc.)
- Perform testing for Spotted Wing Drosophila (SWD)
- Maintain quality records
- Assist with lot change over and verify the lot numbers to ensure they are correct
Other Duties
- Assist with grading and packing when necessary
- Assist with getting product for retail store and special orders
- Packaging of special orders for retail and other customers
- Collection of “live” product
QUALIFICATIONS/JOB STANDARDS
- Knowledge of Food Safety and On Farm Food Safety
- Knowledge of fruit grading procedures
- Team Player
- Self-motivated – works well with minimal supervision
- Good documentation skills
- Good communication skills
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail
